The state of Pennsylvania recently recognized a high school senior because of his commendable volunteer work. Matt Cain, a student at the Central Bucks West High School, was awarded with the Health Care Hero Award after he contributed a remarkable 1,000 hours of service. The award was presented to Cain by Acting Secretary Sandi Vito during the Pennsylvania Health Careers Week. The senior works for the Warrington Emergency Medical Services as a volunteer EMT. He also spends some time at the Doylestown Fire Company, where he is listed as a junior member. Cain is reportedly the only teen volunteer who has logged in that many hours of service at the town hospital.

Since he was 12 years old, Cain has shown his interest in the medical field. At 16, he already started volunteer work with a local ambulance company. At that tender age, Cain reveals that he has already experienced tons of intense situations. Medical emergencies have always been part of his volunteer services, and those experiences led him to become more mature in life. Matt also revealed that he actually enjoys interacting with the patients, while learning a great deal about medical services from the hospital staff. He’s always eager to extend a hand, and constantly looks for ways to help out. His proactive attitude has definitely left a good impression on the people he’s working with. Pennsylvania has so much to thank for, having someone like Matt Cain in their healthcare department. Labor Secretary Sandi Vito hopes that Cain’s efforts will encourage other citizens to sign up for volunteer work.
